Staying away from bankruptcy

In the first half of this year figures have shown that consumer debts and debts increased by credit cards has risen with over 12%. As wages have remained unchanged and necessary costs like schooling and college tuition fees have risen, as well as mortgage rates, people are having a hard time making ends meet.

Homeowners may in some cases be able to take out a second mortgage or another personal loan to consolidate debts and get rid of the financial weight on the shoulders. However college students are facing only higher debt rates and costs as housing prices are increasing steadily, as well as other costs that these people have to make. The average student has around $24,000 of debt even before they have finished their education.

For many people and smaller businesses the only thing left to do (if dents cannot be paid off) is to file for bankruptcy. But even the cost of filing for bankruptcy has been made more difficult for borrowers with problems and the process is quite costly too. Thi s means that many people in the States are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Not being able to get out of a bad financial situation is not only financially unhealthy. Depression and bad health due to a lack of good nutrition make matters only worse.

Most of us can find some kind of creative way to deal with our debts in the long run. But if people have nowhere to go with their questions and can get no help, or a new loan to pay off debts and cannot file for bankruptcy things get difficult. This situation is not just a problem in the States but in many countries. People should be able to get more assistance and have more options provided by the government to work and escape from the financial situation once and for all, to be able to rebuild a healthy and financially secure life again.
